The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) aims to hire 9,000 air traffic controllers by 2028 and has opened a new application portal to support that goal. Over the next three years, the agency plans to fill more than 200 positions.
One critical area in need is New York TRACON, located in East Garden City, Long Island, which is currently short by at least 100 controllers. To attract candidates, the FAA is offering incentives, including signing bonuses of up to $10,000 and assistance with housing in high-cost areas.
Interest in the roles appears strong, with more than 1,000 applicants having already submitted applications to the agency this year.
