Internal FBI documents classified a meeting between Special Counsel Jack Smith and former FBI Director Christopher Wray as a “significant case notification.” As part of their ongoing review of Smith’s work on the Arctic Frost investigation, Senators Chuck Grassley and Ron Johnson received the document indicating that the meeting had taken place.

During related oversight efforts, Sen. Grassley questioned Smith about any meetings or communications connected to the Arctic Frost matter, but reported that no substantial responses were provided. Grassley later expressed concern about what he viewed as a lack of clarity surrounding Smith’s actions, suggesting that the lack of detailed answers raised questions about transparency in the handling of the investigation.
