The FBI is relocating from its headquarters in Washington, D.C., and transferring 1,500 employees to various locations across the country, according to FBI Director Kash Patel. The department has a total of 38,000 employees, but it is currently not fully manned.
Patel said the Hoover building is being vacated because it is unsafe, and that the transition will start in the next three to nine months.
The FBI aims to provide a better working environment for its employees, highlighting a need for improved facilities.
