A federal appeals court ruled that Arkansas can enforce its ban on critical race theory in classrooms, indicating the First Amendment doesn’t grant students the right to demand specific instruction in public schools. The 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals vacated a preliminary injunction against the ban, which two teachers and two students challenged at Little Rock Central High School.

Republican Attorney General Tim Griffin praised the ruling, stating it ensures curriculum decisions remain with elected officials. Attorney Mike Laux expressed disappointment in the decision, stating it raises concerns about the erosion of individual rights and protections in the country.
