The Kyiv Independent raised over $66,200 to support three Ukrainian newsrooms affected by the U.S. aid freeze, which cut critical funding for humanitarian and media organizations in Ukraine. Tsukr, Gwara Media and MykVisti will receive funds from the campaign to cover operational costs and continue their journalism amid ongoing attacks.

The U.S. aid freeze has also significantly impacted pro-democracy forces in Belarus, with about $30 million in aid lost, leading to potential layoffs for 60-80 groups. Activists warn that without independent media and support, state propaganda may dominate narratives in Belarus and Russia, further entrenching authoritarian control.
