Kandiss Taylor, a Georgia woman running for Congress, claimed on X that the Texas flash floods were “fake,” amid tragic circumstances and significant loss of life. At least 94 people have died in Texas due to the floods, including 27 campers and camp counselors from Camp Mystic.

Taylor faced widespread backlash from commentators and public figures for her remarks.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott reported that 850 people have been rescued from the floods, which rose dramatically and caused significant destruction.
