The Freedom Foundation is accusing a Pennsylvania teachers union of illegally using almost $1.5 million from union dues in order to support Democratic Gov. Josh Shapiro’s gubernatorial campaign in 2022.

The Freedom Foundation has filed complaints with state and federal authorities. It claims the Pennsylvania State Education Associated made those contributions to the Fund for Student Success, an action that would be considered illegal.

Shapiro’s name has been circulated as a potential running mate for Vice President Kamala Harris to select if she is selected as the Democratic nominee.
