Following a months-long investigation into potential hate crimes on the University of California, Los Angeles campus, police have identified and arrested a suspect. Police uncovered a stun gun, campus keys and posters honoring Black figures inside Haines Hall, where the African American Studies Library is located.

The arrest is connected to incidents that date back to at least Feb. 2025. While police have not revealed the identity of the suspect, the campus department announced that the person is facing burglary, weapons possession and hate crime enhancement charges.

It is unclear if the person arrested was a student or an employee of the university.
