Ron Klain, who previously served as Chief of Staff to President Joe Biden, testified before the House Oversight Committee that former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton had expressed concerns about Biden’s ability to remain a viable candidate in the 2024 presidential election. Klain acknowledged that President Biden has shown signs of decreased energy and occasional forgetfulness, yet emphasized that he still possessed the mental acuity necessary to seek a second term in office.

Klain also mentioned that National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan had voiced similar concerns, aligning with Clinton’s doubts about Biden’s capacity to challenge Donald Trump effectively. He noted Biden’s physical condition leading up to the June 2024 debate, describing the president as appearing fatigued and unwell, which added to the growing unease among Democratic leadership.
