The Department of Defense found that Afghan evacuees were not vetted by the National Counter-Terrorism Center before arriving in the United States. Nearly 80,000 Afghan refugees were admitted into the U.S. between July 2021 and January 2022, according to the inspector general of the Department of Homeland Security.
Homan vows the Trump administration will thoroughly vet Afghan evacuees after a report noted that the group was not properly vetted during the Biden administration’s withdrawal.
Homan supports the Afghan Vetting Accountability Act, previously introduced in the U.S. Senate by Sens. Rick Scott and Joni Ernst.
