Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz compared Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents to the Gestapo during a commencement address at the University of Minnesota Law School. During the address, he stated that they operate like secret police.
The Jewish Community Relations Council of Minnesota criticized Walz for his comments, calling the comparison to the Gestapo “absolutely sickening.”
The Department of Homeland Security condemned Walz’s comments and highlighted a reported 413% increase in assaults against ICE officers.
Walz stated that the current political environment resembles a “genuine emergency” regarding the rule of law.
