House Judiciary criticizes DOJ over release of Ryan Wesley Routh’s chilling bounty letter

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan criticized the Justice Department for releasing a letter from Ryan Wesley Routh, warning it could inspire copycats targeting former President Donald Trump. Jordan sent a letter to Attorney General Merrick Garland, expressing concern about the DOJ’s past reluctance to share manifestos.
Jordan stated that the DOJ’s decision to disclose Routh’s bounty could cause additional harm and contradicts their policy against publicizing manifestos due to potential threats. Donald Trump Jr. posted to social media about the danger of publicizing the “$150,000 bounty” on his father’s head included in the letter.
