U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrested Ramon Morales-Reyes on May 22 in Wisconsin for threatening to assassinate President Donald Trump. Morales-Reyes, a 54-year-old Mexican immigrant who illegally entered the U.S. multiple times between 1998 and 2005, sent a handwritten letter threatening to shoot Trump at a rally.
The letter expressed an intention to use a rifle to fatally target the president by aiming at his head, highlighting the ongoing threats against him during the 2024 campaign.
Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem condemned the threats, urging politicians and media to tone down rhetoric and pledged to protect Trump while ICE prepares Morales-Reyes’s removal.
Morales-Reyes remains in ICE custody awaiting deportation, highlighting ongoing security concerns following recent violent incidents against Trump and controversial public statements.
