India and the US signed a nearly $4 billion pact for 31 Predator drones, which includes a Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul facility in India. India’s Cabinet Committee on Security approved the deal, allocating 15 drones to the Navy and the rest to the Air Force and Army.
The agreement focuses on the MQ-9B Predator drones, enhancing India’s defense modernization and surveillance capabilities.
India is acquiring the drones primarily to increase the surveillance apparatus of the armed forces, especially along the portions of the border near China.
