Yesterday, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed the deployment of tanks into Gaza City as part of Operation Gideon II. The advance comes after weeks of strikes on the city that Israel says aimed to clear a path for ground forces to move in.

About 550,000 Palestinian civilians — over half of Gaza City’s population — have fled in just the past few weeks, according to The Jerusalem Post. The Post also reports that the IDF accused Hamas of trying to prevent Palestinian civilians from fleeing the war zone.
