Vice President J.D. Vance said “more indictments” are on the horizon over the next three and a half years of the Trump administration. He defended the recent charges against former FBI Director James Comey, saying he was charged based on tangible evidence rather than political motives.
Meanwhile, Comey has denied any misconduct and intends to contest the indictment, which includes allegations of making false statements to Congress and obstructing a congressional proceeding.
Democratic leaders reacted harshly to the move. Senator Tim Kaine called the indictment a “political hatchet job,” warning it could backfire politically on the Trump administration.
“I think it’s going to blow up in the Trump administration’s face, because having practiced law in the Eastern District of Virginia for 17 years, I don’t see any of the judges in this district dignifying this political persecution in any way,” he said.
