Comedian Jon Stewart said President Donald Trump is “king-adjacent, king-esque,” following his assessment of the “No Kings” protests. Stewart pointed to Trump’s deployment of the National Guard in U.S. cities and his moves in “cutting off trade with all parts of the world.”

“It’s starting to feel like there might be something to this whole king thing,” Stewart said. He also noted that some Republican figures have described Trump in highly idolizing terms, pointing out an inconsistency between their admiration and their objections to labeling him as a king.

Stewart then criticized Fox News’ coverage of the weekend protests and said it was a significant moment for democracy that saw zero mass shootings and seven million protesters.
