A federal judge rejected a request to open early voting sites at three North Carolina universities. U.S. District Judge William Osteen upheld the Republican-controlled election boards’ previous decisions to keep those three early in-person voting sites closed.
Students at Western Carolina University, the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and North Carolina A&T State University will now have to travel off campus to cast ballots in person if they want to vote early. The College Democrats of North Carolina and some students sued, arguing they placed an undue burden on the right to vote.
