U.S. District Judge Lance Walker granted a request to pause a 72-hour waiting period for gun purchases in Maine, siding with gun advocates who argued the law is unconstitutional. Judge Walker said that the act “employs no standard at all to justify disarming individuals.”

The waiting period was enacted after a mass shooting in Lewiston that killed 18 people, as part of gun safety reforms. Gun rights groups sued, claiming the law violates the 2nd Amendment and would harm gun dealers economically.
