The Democratic National Committee has paid $20.5 million to cover post-election bills for former Vice President Kamala Harris, according to federal records. The expenses were a result of Harris’s presidential campaign.
Meanwhile, Harris is currently fundraising to make the DNC whole and to keep the party afloat for future presidential runs. “She continues to work hand in hand with the D.N.C. to invest in core infrastructure, grow grass-roots support, and ensure we have the resources to win — not just in the next election, but for years to come,” Kirsten Allen, a senior adviser to Harris, told the New York Times.
Despite fundraising efforts, the DNC started the year with $22.1 million but entered the month of August with just $13.9 million in its bank account.
