FBI Director Kash Patel gifted plastic 3D-printed pistols to three senior New Zealand law enforcement officials in July. The pistols, illegal under New Zealand law without specific permits, were surrendered and destroyed.

It’s not clear whether Patel had any legal permissions to bring the devices into New Zealand in the first place. The FBI did not respond to AP News for comment on that.
