Kenyan President William Ruto pledged to build closer ties with China, stating that a global trade war could deal a “death blow” to the current world order during his visit. Ruto’s visit to China, his third since taking office in 2022, comes amid a tariff fight between Washington and Beijing.

After their meeting, Ruto and Chinese leader Xi Jinping signed agreements on security, technology and economic cooperation. Ruto emphasized Kenya’s desire to learn from China’s governance and thanked Xi for support in health, education and disaster relief.
