A supporter of President Donald Trump was removed from a Major League Soccer match after wearing a MAGA hat inside the St. Louis City SC stadium. Michael Weitzel filmed the incident on Saturday, July 26 and questioned whether his removal was fair.

In 2020, the league implemented a ban on political signs displayed by fans. Days before the incident, MLS commissioner Dan Garber defended the move, saying, in part, “We want to ensure that we’re having displays that are not going to incite anyone.”

Weitzel said he saw other attendees with political signs, but they were not removed from the event. The Civil Rights Division of the Department of Justice is reportedly reviewing the incident after Weitzel’s video went viral on social media.
