The mayor-elect noted the importance of collaboration and communication, saying he is willing to work with federal leaders regardless of political or ideological differences. “I will be reaching out to the White House as we prepare to actually take office because this is a relationship that will be critical to the success of the city,” he said.
Mamdani said one of his priorities in speaking with Trump will be addressing the city’s cost-of-living challenges. Meanwhile, Trump has expressed skepticism about providing federal assistance to New York City under Mamdani’s leadership.
