Cosby Cunningham, a quality assurance manager at Eaton Corp’s Iowa facility, was fired on Aug. 23, 2023, for wearing Bible verse T-shirts during Pride Month. Cunningham reached an out-of-court settlement with Eaton Corporation after being terminated, alleging religious discrimination.

Cunningham’s lawsuit claimed he was fired for expressing his religious beliefs, as Eaton promoted diversity and inclusion policies and initiated Pride Month activities.

Eaton terminated Cunningham, citing violations of their Harassment-Free Policy, after he was sent home for failing to comply with requests regarding his attire.

The settlement was reached on May 20, 2025, after both parties settled, reflecting ongoing societal debates about religious freedom and workplace inclusivity.
