Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, Ga., recently took aim at her GOP colleagues, accusing many Republican men in Congress of being “weak” and overly intimidated by strong conservative women. She said leaders within her party have marginalized figures like herself and Rep. Elise Stefanik, NY, despite their willingness to engage and take action.
Greene expressed frustration with the GOP’s refusal to collaborate with Democrats on extending Affordable Care Act subsidies, given rising health care costs and fears premiums could skyrocket. She also pointed to Stefanik losing consideration for a U.N. ambassadorship as emblematic of a political slight, describing it as both insulting and humiliating.
Meanwhile, House Speaker Mike Johnson said he had extended an “olive branch” by offering to include Greene in healthcare discussions. He defended the move as part of the party’s ongoing effort to address health costs even amid internal tensions.
