Maryland Gov. Wes Moore, D, signed 170 bills into law aimed at improving health, safety and environmental justice, including the Public Health Abortion Grant Program to expand abortion access funded by unused ACA insurance funds. The Sergeant Patrick Kepp Act strengthens penalties for reckless and aggressive driving, named after an injured Montgomery County police sergeant.
The Chesapeake Bay Legacy Act promotes water quality improvements and supports farmers with sustainable practices and oyster restoration projects. Moore’s new laws also focus on environmental responsibility, recycling, waste reduction and increased traffic safety measures across various jurisdictions.
