Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass signed a new executive directive to support local film and TV jobs. The directive aims to help an industry affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and wildfires. It will make filming easier by reducing coordination time with city staff. Mayor Bass stated: โThe city is taking bold action to support our legacy industry.โ
The directive allows only one city staff member on set and aims to lower fees for filming at iconic locations like Griffith Observatory and Central Library.
Bass emphasized the need to enhance film and TV production tax credits amid a downturn in the industry.
Councilmember Adrin Nazarian added that the changes are vital for keeping production jobs and supporting the city’s economy.
