According to the 2022 National Survey on Drug Use and Health, Hispanic adults reported lower rates of mental illness compared to white Americans. However, they reported higher rates of mental illness than Black and Asian Americans.

The survey showed that Hispanic adults did not receive mental health treatment as frequently as multiracial and white adults that were included in the survey.

One potential cause of Latinos seeking care for mental illnesses less includes a scarcity of Latino mental health professionals as well as language barriers. Mental health experts, clinics and politicians are looking to address barriers by creating new programs.
