Between May 2024 and May 2025, GLAAD documented 932 incidents of anti-LGBTQ harassment, threats, and assaults throughout the United States. There has been a noticeable rise in incidents targeting transgender individuals, officials at local and regional levels, as well as educational staff, while occurrences aimed at drag performers have declined.

GLAAD collects data through self-reports, media, social media, law enforcement, and partner organizations, validating incidents via its Anti-LGBTQ Extremism Reporting Tracker.

The report notes 485 incidents targeted transgender and gender-nonconforming people, marking a 14% rise, while incidents against drag performers dropped 55% to 83 cases.

The data suggests persistent anti-LGBTQ extremism amid growing political rhetoric, prompting calls for collective action to enhance community safety and acceptance.
