Russian authorities have returned the body of Ukrainian journalist Viktoria Roshchyna, who died in custody, as confirmed by Ukraine’s Deputy Interior Minister Leonid Tymchenko. Roshchyna disappeared in August 2023 while reporting in Russian-occupied eastern Ukraine.

Officials identified her body through DNA testing after Russia returned it. Her body showed signs of torture, and the cause of death remains undetermined.

Roshchyna received several posthumous awards for her journalism, reflecting her significant contributions and sacrifices.
