Despite a public fallout with U.S. President Donald Trump last year, billionaire Elon Musk has reaffirmed his support for GOP candidates in the 2026 midterms. “America is toast if the radical left wins,” he wrote on X. “They will open the floodgates to illegal immigration and fraud.”

His remarks come after months of posts criticizing Republicans during his clash with the president, a period in which he floated creating his own political party, the “America Party.” He first raised that threat as Congress weighed Trump’s Big Beautiful Bill and after his departure from DOGE.

According to the Washington Post, Musk later paused those plans after Vance “urged Musk allies to push him to back off his third party plans.”

In 2024, Musk donated more than $290 million, making him the year’s largest political donor and putting him roughly $100 million ahead of the second-highest contributor.
