Elon Musk, head of the Department of Government Efficiency, stated that over 2 million noncitizens received Social Security numbers in fiscal year 2024. Musk displayed a chart showing nearly 1 million numbers issued to noncitizens in fiscal year 2025 during his address in Wisconsin.
Musk remarked that the issuance of 2.1 million Social Security numbers to noncitizens in 2024 highlights a fatal flaw in U.S. immigration and welfare processes, describing it as “policy sabotage.” Musk claimed the number of noncitizens receiving Social Security numbers was the largest voter fraud issue in history, calling for voter ID requirements.
