The Tennessee Star and Editor-in-Chief Michael Patrick Leahy released 90 pages of writings by Audrey Hale over a year after the Covenant School shooting in Nashville that killed three children and three staff members. In her writings, Hale expressed feelings of “pain” and a desire to die, often signing entries as “Aiden,” a name she frequently used. One entry, dated Jan. 16, 2023, included an apology for planning her massacre on Jan. 17, revealing intense turmoil. While the entire manifesto had not been previously released, several outlets had reported on its contents.
