Nebraska Gov. Jim Pillen announced that his state will establish a detention center for undocumented immigrants. The move is part of a broader effort by President Donald Trump to enhance immigration enforcement.

Pillen, a Republican, in coordination with Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, will use an existing minimum security prison in McCook to detain people who are facing deportation. The detention center, dubbed the “Cornhusker Clink,” is expected to become the Midwest hub for detainees from several states.

Pillen also said the Nebraska National Guard and Nebraska State Patrol would assist immigration agents with logistics and arrests.
