Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry accused his predecessor of hiding an unfavorable study about the Louisiana coastal restoration project. Landry stated that, “They hid the bad stuff and only showed the (Crops) the version they liked.”
Former Gov. John Bel Edwards denied the accusations, claiming, “Gov. Landry’s accusations are demonstrably false.”
Cullen Jones from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers noted that the project’s permit was suspended because the state deliberately withheld information and that the state knew it should provide.
Lauren Bourg of the National Audubon Society warned that altering the project could jeopardize infrastructure efforts statewide, emphasizing the importance of scientific integrity.
