Newt Gingrich calls recent federal rulings against Trump a ‘judicial coup d’etat’

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich referred to recent federal rulings against the Trump administration as a “judicial coup d’etat,” highlighting the role of district judges in issuing injunctions. Gingrich argued that the issue of district judges issuing nationwide injunctions needs Congress’ attention, emphasizing that “if we can limit the judges, we would send such a strong signal.”

According to Gingrich, a majority of Americans believe that “no single district judge should be able to issue a nationwide injunction,” highlighting public opinion on judicial authority.

U.S. Rep. Deborah Ross, D-N.C, stated during a congressional hearing that President Donald Trump shows contempt for the judiciary, equating his actions with past controversies and litigation over real estate deals and sexual assault accusations.
