A teacher is suing Ohio’s New Richmond School District and its superintendent for violating her free speech and due process after her suspension over LGBTQ+ books in her classroom. She was suspended for three days without pay for having four books with LGBTQ characters, as she allegedly knew they were “not acceptable.”
The lawsuit challenges the constitutionality of the district’s policy that led to her suspension and its enforcement. According to WLWT Channel 5, the books at the center of the lawsuit include “Ana On The Edge,” “The Fabulous Zed Watson,” “Hazel Bly and the Deep Blue Sea,” and “Too Bright to See,” The lawsuit reportedly states that students were not required to read the books.
