Virginia Senator Mark Warner (D) has released data showing that approximately one in four FBI agents nationwide have been reassigned to immigration enforcement since President Donald Trump’s return to the White House. The agents were reassigned from the work they were doing relating to U.S. national security and high-level federal investigations.
In some of the largest field offices, almost half (45%) of all FBI agents are now working on immigration enforcement, significantly draining resources away from counterterrorism, cybercrime and drug trafficking.

Agents warned that the reassignments put U.S. national security at risk and hinder the ability of the bureau to respond to active threats. Agents also raised concerns about the loss of their ability to process complex investigations and a sharp decline in overall workplace morale.
