Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has expressed support for a Senate bill named after her that would prohibit members of Congress, as well as the president and vice president, from trading individual stocks. The bill, known as the PELOSI Act, was introduced by Senator Josh Hawley.

An alternative version of the legislation, which excluded the executive branch from its provisions, was previously blocked, with opposition coming from both parties. Pelosi has faced public scrutiny regarding her stock portfolio, particularly after its reported performance exceeded that of the S&P 500 by nearly 200% in 2024.

She has denied any wrongdoing or involvement in insider trading and has emphasized the need for increased transparency in congressional stock transactions.
