A local official in Towamencin Township, Pennsylvania, resigned after posting a TikTok video mimicking Elon Musk’s gesture, which resembled a Nazi salute. Laura Smith, the former vice chair of the Board of Supervisors, deleted the video amid mounting criticism, stating it was mischaracterized.

The Anti-Defamation League described Musk’s gesture as awkward but not a Nazi salute while condemning Smith’s actions as unprofessional.

The Towamencin Township Board of Supervisors announced they would accept Smith’s resignation at their next meeting on Feb. 4.
