Pennsylvania mail-in ballots don’t need accurate envelope dates, federal judge rules

Election boards in Pennsylvania’s 67 counties may not invalidate mail-in ballots due to inaccurate exterior dates, ruled U.S. District Judge Susan Paradise Baxter. He noted that no significant state interest in the exterior date requirement would justify disenfranchisement.

The ruling comes amid ongoing legal disputes, with the Republican National Committee planning an appeal to challenge it.

Baxter emphasized that over 10,000 votes were invalidated due to the date mandate during the 2022 election, which she deemed unconstitutional.
