The percentage of Canadians who view the United States as a top threat has tripled since 2019, according to a new poll by the Pew Research Center. Fifty-five percent of Canadians believe the U.S. remains Canada’s most important ally, as reported in the Pew survey.

Despite the majority of Canadians believing the U.S. is the country’s top ally, 59% also said they now see the U.S. as a threat. The U.S. was named as the top threat in eight countries surveyed, according to the Pew Research Center.

The Pew Research Center surveyed 28,333 adults outside the U.S. between Jan. 8 and April 26.
