U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia Jeanine Pirro said Monday that a woman had been arrested for making threats against President Trump. The suspect — Nathalie Rose Jones of Lafayette, Indiana — traveled to Washington, D.C. after allegedly posting on Facebook on Aug. 6 that she “…literally told FBI in five states today that I am willing to sacrificially kill this POTUS by disemboweling him…”
While in town, Jones joined protests in D.C. against President Trump’s federalization of D.C. law enforcement and his deployment to of the National Guard.

U.S. Secret Service took Jones into custody and interviewed her after she arrived. During the interview, Jones allegedly told her interviewers that she would kill Trump if presented with the opportunity.
In subsequent interviews, she later denied having any ongoing desire to harm the president.
“She wanted to ‘avenge’ all the lives lost during the COVID-19 pandemic, which she attributed to the president’s administration and its position on vaccinations,” a Secret Service agent explained, speaking in regards to the suspect’s alleged motive, according to the Washington Post.
A review of her social media posts, however, reveals questions about mental health and possible mental illness. In one Facebook post, the suspect allegedly addressed those questions herself, writing: “I have had severe mental illness. But it is not permanent. There might be a moment, an episode, a hospitalization. But I do not just exist in insanity. Why would I? It’s treatable.”
Pirro claimed that Jones had been “working to have [Trump] eliminated.” Jones is charged with threatening to kill President Trump and transmitting threats in interstate commerce.
