Public approval of President Trump drops to lowest of his second term

President Donald Trump’s nationwide public approval rating has dropped to a second-term low of 39%, according to a new joint survey from YouGov and The Economist. 57% of Americans say they disapprove of Trump’s handling of the presidency, the highest disapproval rating of his second term.

Almost two-thirds of independent voters (64%) said they disapproved of Trump in his second term, and Trump’s -18 overall net approval is his lowest since November 2017.

Among those who voted for Trump in 2024, however, his approval rating stands at a significantly higher 86%. Only 16% of Trump’s 2024 voters say they disapprove of his behavior as president.

The survey has a margin of error of 3.6%.
