The Biden administration announced that the number of publicly available electric vehicle chargers has doubled since Biden took office, reaching 192,000 charging ports. Approximately 1,000 new public chargers are added weekly. While the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law allocated $7.5 billion for EV chargers, only 69 chargers funded by the law are currently operational. However, $521 million in grants will support 9,200 additional chargers across 29 states and Washington, D.C.
