U.S. Rep. Jamie Raskin, D-Md., said on Nov. 16 that the Democratic Party should cast “a huge, vast tent” welcoming all patriots willing “to stand up for the Constitution and for the Bill of Rights,” according to The Hill. When asked about fellow U.S. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., Raskin indicated that the party is open to including her as well, should she decide to serve in the Democratic Party instead of the Republican Party.

Raskin is a highly respected leader among Democrats who taught constitutional law for decades before moving into Congress himself, but his invitation to Greene received a mixed reaction from listeners, The Hill reported. Fox News reported boos throughout the audience.

Greene, for her part, has traditionally been a vocal advocate for President Donald Trump and is a high-profile figure in the MAGA camp. Recently, public rifts between her and the president, including a rift over the Epstein files and related investigations, have severed that alliance.

The president formally rescinded his support for Greene on Nov. 14 and indicated that he might provide support for a primary GOP challenger to unseat her in the next election cycle.
