Republican U.S. Rep. Nancy Mace officially announced her campaign for South Carolina governor on August 4, 2025, ahead of the November 6, 2026 election. Mace launched her bid to succeed term-limited Gov. Henry McMaster in a crowded GOP primary.

She highlights her status as The Citadel’s first female graduate and positions herself as a firebrand Republican with controversial policies on immigration, transgender issues and healthcare. Her announcement video on August 2 included President Trump calling her a “fighter” who is “tough” when focused.
