A whistleblower claims former FBI Director James Comey directed an off-the-books investigation into the Trump campaign using undercover agents referred to as “honeypots.” This investigation was never recorded in any FBI system or disclosed to the Justice Department Inspector General Michael E. Horowitz.
The whistleblower identifies FBI officials, including Dave Bowdich and Paul Abbate, as involved, who were sworn to secrecy about the investigation’s details.
The disclosure also states the operation didn’t appear to target a specific crime but rather was an expedition to find incriminating evidence on Trump.
