Nineteen Republican attorneys general criticized Costco for its workforce DEI policies and urged the retailer to end them. The attorneys general stated that Costco’s defense of its diversity, equity and inclusion efforts contradicts the Supreme Court’s 2023 ruling against affirmative action.

Costco defended its DEI programs, asserting that its commitment to respect and inclusion is necessary and appropriate.

The attorneys general demanded Costco inform them within 30 days about the status of its DEI policies.
